Head, Indonesian Human Rights Commission
Ahmad Taufan Damanik is the Chairman of Komnas HAM, the Indonesian Human Rights Commission, for the period of 2017-2020. He has been involved in social movements since 1986 and has a Masters degree from the University of Essex (2005). He has worked as a lecturer at the University of North Sumatra, and has been active in a number of social movements, including as Deputy Head and a member of The ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection on the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) (2010-16). He has also worked on UNICEF and Save the Children Indonesia projects, and has been a facilitator for programs by the British Council.
