Executive Director, Oxfam Brasil
Katia Maia is sociologist and began her activism during her youth in the environmental movement in Brazil. In much of her professional life, she worked with issues related to sustainability, development, international relations, human rights, food security and social justice. Katia devoted years of her career working in CSOs, being part of several Brazilian and international NGOs both in Brazil and abroad. She also assumed responsibilities in the federal government in the area of human rights. She has been taking different roles and responsibilities in Oxfam for more than 15 years, including the global leadership of GROW campaign. Since 2015, Katia is the first Executive Director of Oxfam Brasil.
